had to remove socket as part of kitchen refurb and this is what i found.IMG_0297.jpg

yes that is a 2.5 T&E connected to a 6mm T&E going back to the board on a 30amp 3036 fuse.

I think perhaps that it may have been DIY DAN having a go. I particularly liked the way all the conductors were identified, and they earthed the back box!

 
providing the 2.5 can take the fault current to operate the 3036, then the 2.5 complies (unfused spur from radial - page 363)

but his methods of joining the cable and sleeving the earth is a disgrace
