Its either a Pyronix twinalert or an early Pyronix break-glass detector (they had the same case)

 
Get customer to put some broken glass inside a glass bottle. Rattle it under the detector

see if it senses the frequency of the breaking glass and the light comes on. That's how we used to test breaking glass detectors


That can be a very hazardous testing method...

With a risk of cutting your finger collecting already broken glass into a container..

It is MUCH safer to get a group of friends and a significant quantity of bottles of very strong beer...

Then you just keep on consuming bottle after bottle....  

until you get to the stage where you can no longer grip any of the bottles sufficiently tight to stop them slipping out of your hand..

So before long it is the sound of glass beers bottles breaking on the floor that triggers the detector..

And the only glass you have to touch is the unbroken beer bottle before it crashes to the floor!!
