really sorry if this is a dumb question but i know very little about PV. and i know some of you guys are clued up on it.

ive got a customer whos had her roof "rented out" by a solar company. she thought it sounded great, all this free electricity to use. they fitted there stuff and placed in a real awkward place in the loft. i havent seen it but shes says theres only a graph on a screen and nothing else but a real pig to get to. they must get automatic updates of whats been generated, by sim card maybe? theres nothing to tell her whats being generated or whats shes using of the generated elec.

anyway shes bought one of these monitors that you normally put onto incoming live to read how many kWh being used, she wants it on the PV to tell her wats being generated. the logical place for me to put it (remember i know nothing about pv) was in the consumer unit where the live comes from the pv isolator into the mcb. this gave a reading of about 1.3 -1.7 kWh, which seemed quite low as sun was blearing down, no clouds at midday ish.

have i put it in the wrong place or is it not producing very much. she was told it would produce 4kw all the time but i said thats the most it can generate - is that right?

sorry for long post

cheers wayne

need a load more info, number and type of panels, inverter etc,

TBH, for a rent a roof its probably not far away, maybe a bit low, but there abouts.

oh, 3.68 is the max, so reasonably expect 3 maximum

cheers for the info, at the minute she has a dial meter but as its spinning backwards the elec company are changing it in the next few days. ill tell her about the geo meter looks a good bit of kit - not sure shell like the price but all i can do is advise.

would where ive put the current meter be pretty giving an accurate at the moment or is it totally the wrong place.

she wont let me in the loft as its a pain to get to and to be honest dont want to get too involved just help her out a little, so the info about inverter etc ive got no idea.

cheers
