Hi mates, are there any sparks around the Wirral that could give me any work experience in any kind of electrical work, i've got more than 4 years experience as an apprentice in Portugal but i've done a lot of diferent types of work from CCTV to rewires, alarms and new buildings from scratch. i've got own hand tools, ppe, cscs and 17th edition. only things i ask for is money for bus if needed (or you can pick me up if you are near by or i can walk if the work is close) and for you to be a reference so i can apply for jobs.

cheers

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately I have to say you do not appear to be living in the real world. It is NOT standard practice for any employer in any type of job to pay their employees to get to their place of work. I would imagine almost every employed person in the UK would like their employer to pay their daily commuting fees or provide free transport to work. I also suspect that HMRC would be interested in this additional income/benefit-in-kind as well. Additional travel expenses are occasionally paid where an employee has to exceed a reasonable travel distance or travel time. But 99.9% of the time you pay to get to your place of work yourself.

A further point often made to people making these requests is that in reality your involvement would typically slow down an existing electrician. They will need to be doing supervision guidance etc, over your work to ensure the safety of the installation that they are still going to be signing off and having legal responsibility for, to ensure no one is injured due to errors or bad workmanship.  This all costs time and money, so it has no advantages to anyone else but you, expecting your free additional training & experience. I wish you good luck, but I would not hold out much hope unless a large firm can absorb you into their profit margins.

Hi mate, i've understood what you are saying but i'm just asking for a part time voluntary job to get some experience and to get to know how you do things around here. i don't want a lot of hours because of the job center and my job search, if the work was close i could pay my traveling only if its far i would need some help, besides that they would get a pair of hands for free, but thats not the main thing i wanted, what i want most of all is the reference because i've could've been working all ready if it wasn't for that.

But i wouldn't be working lone anyway i would be working as a mate or as an apprentice helping with jobs that need 2 people.
