Hi all,

Does any one know if a WYLEX 100mA 80A RCD WEM 80/2 is time delayed.

It currenty protects a TT system and I will be upgrading the consumer unit to an 17th edition unit with 2X30mA RCD's.

I worried about discrimination, and dont want it tripping before the 30mA RCDS's

I know removing it may be an answer, but it is useful as an Isolation Swtch.

Thanks in Advance

there are available in both standard & time delay. it will have it marked on the RCD if it is TD or not

can you not swap it for a 100A isolator?

if that is connected already to the tails side of the install before the c/u then upgrading that install wont require a 100mA because of the 30mA x 2 that are being used on the new 17th c/u basically you can throw that rcd out :x
which i what i meant by 'can you not swap it for a 100A isolator?'!

no point having stuff you dont need!

If as you say its already in circuit, perhaps an RCD test would be a quick way to find out?

e.g. stick your tester on it.....

If all the response times take a bit longer.....

It could well be time delayed! ;)

If they are all within non-delayed spec...

Then its probably not! ;)

:D :x

Take it out , it will probably kick out when the 30mA s trip ,which negates the point of the two devices in the 17th board.Deke
Generally a 100ma shouldn't trip with 30ma in series with it.

Just like traditional TT split board with 100ma main switch & 30ma for sockets/shower etc.. e.g. page 24 OSG fig 3.2.

100ma should NOT trip @ 1/2 rated trip current. (50ma)

but 30ma should have tripped tripped @ 50ma!

Thanks Everyone,

replacement with a 100A isolation switch seems best option.
