And how often does that happen then - can't remember the last time I heard of a case of that (going blind that is) whereas there are cases of children / adults (and dogs) dying and being seriously ill on Shaldon beach caused by e-coli washed down from the cows of Dartmoor every year.

At the end of the day its not the fault of the cat or dog, its the irresponsible owners who fail to worm their animals. As for e-coli - isn't its deadliness something to do with over use of antibiotics prescribed by vets / doctors ?:| ? :| ?:|

Suggest you buy a very large water pistol and stalk the cats entering your garden, or get one of these high-pitched noise emitting things. (the water pistol is more fun but your wife / neighbours might think you have lost the plot :^O :^O:^ O)

You are quite right - it's is vitally important that you worm your dog or cat regularly. There are cases every year of Toxocara but I do agree it's rare.

The issue with the E.coli is the number of strains and their different pathogenicity. It's not an antibiotic resistance issue. Certain strains have extra things that make them better at surviving in certain conditions. E.coli is a very broad family - E.coli 0157 that killed all the people in Scotland a few years ago, k99 that causes diarrhea in calves.

I like a good argument, I also like cats, but they do drive me round the twist - other peoples toms with knackers intact - very antisocial.
