No cpc

Not sure what age the building is, but I would say 1980s. The lighting is all wired in double insulated singles. The lines have a CPC, the neutral doesn't. So I'm trying to think if that really meets current standards given that we regard the neutral as a live conductor. Your thoughts please

You can still buy it like that the one with the cpc is 6241Y and without is 6181Y.

Although the neutral conductor carries current and is deemed live it's potential is low.

There’s even Older than that. Singles and earth but BOTH insulated! Early 70s

There’s loads of houses around here wired with that cable in the 70’s

and bare earths - only found that still in use once.

different areas seem to have their own fads, not seen it down my way before. Seen plenty of singes in conduit, but not this.

Few years back we rewired an office floor using this stuff. Don't know what was going through the designer's mind but looked good in the ceiling void, it was all strung through spacer bar saddles so imagine a conduit system without the conduit!

It was used in a 2007 building where I later did maintenance. What a PIA it was, tracing circuits to add some escape lights and move a couple of switches.

I guess that's the main joy of it, especially compared to steel conduit - I'm trying to think when pvc became the norm?
