    Mixer Shower Screeching - Grohe

It was doing it with the old boiler but has gotten far worse since the new one. There seems to be more pressure on the hot with the new boiler...

    Mixer Shower Screeching - Grohe

Ok, I have had a fiddle with it in the shower tonight ;) tried running it without the hose and without the shower head and no difference. if i push against the front of the mixer unit (which is the temp control) the noise stops, but starts again when i take the pressure off... I don't know...

    Mixer Shower Screeching - Grohe

I know not the answer to such questions other than the noise is coming from the mixer valve itself. I can see no names or numbers on the shower head to aid identification. It has 3 spray pattern settings. Does that help? I doubt it.... I was hoping everyone would just say "It's the ..." and it...

    Mixer Shower Screeching - Grohe

    Mixer Shower Screeching - Grohe

We have a Grohe mixer shower which makes an obnoxious screeching noise while running. We used to be able to manage it by finding a quiet spot but have had a new boiler fitted recently and the problem is now very bad. The best case is a constant low drone and worse case is a high piched screech...

    1960's switchgear

Didn't think of that at all! Was thinking in terms of worn parts, undersized conductors etc. Thanks!

    1960's switchgear

Had a job interview recently at a large government owned educational site. One of the questions asked was about what promlems one might encounter with 1960's switchgear as they have a fair bit on the site. This is not something i have had much experience with so had to blag it... I know there...

Fault finding switch start fluorescent lighting

In the real world it's usually the starter, tube or ballast or occasionally a capacitor. But since we have structured procedures for safe isolation, test sequences etc, i thought there might be one for this as well. I am expecting this question to rear its head in the next few weeks, that's...

Fault finding switch start fluorescent lighting

Hi all, Just wondering if there is an estabolished recognised procedure for fault finding fluorescent lighting. Thinking in terms of exam question or nvq assessor question rather than actual real world stuff... Cheers.

230v 2kW motor buzzing, no rotation.

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone can help me with a problem a chippie friend of mine has with a bench saw. It's the biggest single phase saw he could find at 2.1 kW has barely been used but is out of warranty. The motor buzzes but does not rotate. He thinks it might be something to do with the...

    Experience or Qualifications?

I would say it's pretty unreasonable of your employer not to let get away at a reasonable time 2 days a week to complete your college. In my experience as long as you're there enough to keep the college happy you wont have any trouble passing the asessments...

Thanks for your input everyone. Nothing is simple in this business is it? I hadn't expected such a lively debate... Cheered me up though :-)

just feeling unloved, but since you asked here's the rant... I have put myself through college over the last four years, my firm hasn't paid for anything. I'm just about to finish the NVQ 3, already have2330, 2391, am2 etc but the company seems to see no value in any of this. No van, no...

    Experience or Qualifications?

If you were looking for a new spark and had narrowed it down to 2 which would you go for all else being equal? A 15 years expereince and no qualifications B 3 years experience and all current qualifications including 2391 etc

    Demand for PV installation?

The MCSsounds like a bit of a beaurocratic nightmare over here but generous government backing has seen a boom in PV in Australia. There is however a bit better return from PV there ;) Trying to get my firm interested but my bosses seem to think it's some kind of witchcraft...
