    Alarm fusing

why not get a 3A mcb? Alarms mostly have a fuse before the transformer anyway, but is manufactors spec for 3 amp. Is it in the alarm regs, to have an unswitched F/S? Am i correct in thinking its a reg for fire alarm panels?

16 amp and 6 amp breakers on boilers

i always thought that was technically the case too, some sort of level of gas safe to open boilers up. Most plumbers do their wiring if its a simple connect in. I can honestly say i've never met a single plumber with defined scope/limited part p so il hardly be rushing out to do GS to carry on...

16 amp and 6 amp breakers on boilers

I think you can have a boiler on a plug, cant see any reason why not. Would that then mean it would be a 'portable' appliance. Like you say it does look poop. Alot of the time when i go to wire a boiler in the plumber will have finished and left it on a plug until i hardwire it, but thats just...

    Meddling customers (and others)...

If you get one of those situations say something! Without being offensive tell them you know someones been messing with it. Theres no possible way wires could jump out and swap holes! If there a good customer, as long as they admitted fiddling then do the jo for free. If not you should charge...

    MK 1 gang 45amp switch

Thats the problem, its next to a double socket and a fused spur. Im not allowed to put a cooker control with a socket in and scrap the socket which is a bit annoying. I think i may get away with the 32 amp switch, cust not sure size of hob and oven yet though. If not i'll go with the BG nexus...

    Another bonding question

Theres no problem with bonding outside or run through an air brick. Single insulated is protected. I try to avoid doing it coz i think it looks crap. I hate having to spend time clipping it straight and to try and not get the G&Y too twisted, making it looking even more crap. I do reckon...

    Shielded cable use...

I have a few bits of music gear, its called "ground loop interferance" and it can be quite a loud buzz. Some DIY type musicians end up dissconnecting earths from circuits, and ive heard of music gear exposed parts coming live. Guitar strings then touching microphones, really dangerous.

    rcd circuit - fire alarms

I generally try to avoid putting smokes on an RCD or RCBO. I try to avoid installing the circuit in a manner that requires rcd protection, then put it on a seperate MCB before the RCD's. Problem with them being on their own RCBO, which is what a few people and scams debate, is that if it trips...

    nic testers???

No course not. Im with Napit, their not the NICEIC. Im only with them for the part P self certification scheme. You dont have to be a member of any scheme to issue certs, you do to sign work off, which is domestic only. Some people get it in to their heads you have to be NIC for everything in...
