Old Wiring and a new ceiling rose (diy-er needs help)

Hi MarkJ Does the grey cable with the three Red,Blue,White (or Yellow) wires also have a bare earth wire in it? It may be cut back at the grey sheath. Are there any other light fittings or things like ceiling fans etc in the room? Is there only 1 switch that operates the light in question?

    windows 7 or XP

I agree with Lurch if you've got hardware running XP I'd stick with it, unless you want to upgrade for academic interest. But if you're buying a new PC or Laptop that comes with 7 go with it. Christmas Forum

There's a blast from the past. Just recently binned my OS2 2.11 install floppies. All 20 of them. Those were the days when a big hard drive was 250MB and 16MB was loads of RAM. :)

    Christmas Forum

To right does the job no messing. It's the MK of the operating system world. Linux is great and you can get it to do anything but it takes a lot of time and effort. I'd only recommend it to people who are interested in it as a hobby.

the "doctor" has arrived, well sort of....

My copy arrived today. Had a quick flick when I wasn't getting sent on errands for 'last minute' items by the wife. Looks excellent I particularly like the chapter on 'putting it in' a area not covered by most other books. Looking forward to reading the rest over Christmas when the family...
