    Frozen washers on van

just use neat screenwash! I defrost my windows in the morning with a gallon of warm water NOT HOT! Then I put the wipers on intermittent to stop icing up then away I go. Screenwash never freezes.

    if max zs is exceeded

totally agree there mate! I refuse to join a scheme until I feel I'm ready and can fulfill my obligation etc. I'm confident I would be accepted now but i'm just gonna wait till after christmas and do it in my own time as my Brother in Law is NAPIT approved so it covers our work.

    if max zs is exceeded

just seems to me that some or a lot of the "Longer standing" "Time served" Sparks just don't like anyone or agree to any of the course providers for adult learners. They just seem to see us as wanabees who know nothing. Probably why I just read a lot on the forum and don't post many threads.

    2382-20 --- revise or not?

its easy mate, aslong as you have a good understanding of the BRB and can use the index and contents then you should fly through it. When I did mine I got 1 question wrong and it was to do with PV and I just couldn't find the answer anywhere! Ho Hum.

    NAPIT - passed

gonna be booking mine in for after christmas. How much did it cost you all in if you don't mind me asking?

    CU change

the way I do it is: 1) Explain the situation to the customer about the possibilty of problems when the new CU is fitted and explain that if it is not tested first to identify the problems then any remedial work afterward the change is CHARGEABLE. 2) PIR the existing installation. If it fails...

    Ralco & British General

i've fitted a couple in the past 2 weeks and can't really say that they aren't good for the money. Good thing about them is the Neutrals from the RCD's etc, they are flexible which means when your installing 10/12 circuits into the board, you can remove the Neutral "fly" leads and re-connect...

    Extractor fan

When installing fans at first fix, I always plan for any eventuality and fit 3core+earth, 3 pole isolator and fit 3 amp protection also.

    Shower change

I totally agree with what your saying BUT if your customer wants a shower circuit installed and isnt aware of the Regulation implications to fitting it within their existing installation then they are VERY reluctant to part with extra cash even the difference between a single RCD and a RCD/MCB...

    Shower change

Page 113, Reg: 531.4 RCD's in a TT System Reg: 531.4.1 If an installation which is part of a TT system is protected by a single RCD, this shall be placed at the ORIGIN of the installation unless the part of the installation between the origin and the device complies with the requirements for...

    Shower change

Option 2 is what I would do...... use existing CU for overload protection, split the tails and put in a 30mA RCD to feed the original CU which would cover all the circuits for shock protection. Complies to regs and cost effective.

    Main DB location in house

where is the supply cable coming in and if it is in that cupboard, has the water tank been put in after the Electrical installation or are you wanting to totally resite to supply too? If so i'd find a better place than in the "airing" cupboard.

Question about structural integrity after doing an EIC

as said in my PM mate, home owners have gone back to the "electrician" to have him rectify the floor and there gonna get the LABC to come inspect it then we'll issue the EIC once we've spoke to the LABC about it and the floor has been sorted and rectified.
