Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

Aye, it does help a wee bit :) I guess what i'm trying to find out is if I go on a job and the customer says 'are you a qualified electrician?' I can show them the applicable certificates to prove that I am. But if they say 'are you qualified to carry out PIRs?' am I? :o Like I say I don't...

    Borrowed neutral

Just a quick one on this guys: (1) Why would there be any need for borrowing a neutral when using 2C+E / 3C+E? Or does the issue arise when not using 2C+E / 3C+E? (2) Before carrying out any electrical work what would cause an electrician to even suspect that something might be wired this way...

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

Sorry to sound like a complete doughnut sparkytim but it still doesn't really make sense. :_| bad day explode Are you saying that I can carry out PIRs without C&G 2392 but not under the scheme provider name?

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

    1. Is C&G 2392 sufficient too? 2. Aye, full PIR report.

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

I'm just a bit confused with this: (1) If any competent person can carry out PIRs what is the need for 2391? (2) If someone wants me to carry out some electrical testing when, for example, they are moving house and they need the required documentation, what would happen then? I don't mean to...

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

Isn't C&G 2391 required when carrying out PIRs / testing the work of another electrician etc...?

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

Is the certification required for carrying out PIRs different to that required for testing someone else's electrical work?

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

Cheers Special Location! :) So in summary domestic installers cover domestic work only and approved contractors cover domestic, commercial and industrial work i.e. the whole 9 yards!

Domestic Installer and Approved Contractor - What's the difference?

Hi guys, I've looked into the difference between these two but it's still not entirely clear. I was just wondering if someone could tell me in layman's terms what each is for?

Continuity of CPC - Maximum reading

If you test continuity of CPC by testing R1 + R2 would you use the value in the 8th line down (19.51)?

    EAWR

Thanks guys. I need it for my NICEIC assessment next Thursday. I've spoken to the assessor and he said he'll bring me a copy when he comes out....result! :D

    EAWR

Does anyone know where I could download the EAWR from?
  15. D

Continuity of CPC - Maximum reading

The value should be 19.51, not 12.10 i.e. 2.5mm line conductor with a 1.5mm CPC

Continuity of CPC - Maximum reading

Where are you getting the figures in red from?
  17. D

Continuity of CPC - Maximum reading

Use a bigger cable? Or find a shorter route from the MCB to the cooker switch?
  18. D

Continuity of CPC - Maximum reading

1 Ohm, 32A MCB as suggested by sparkytim.

Continuity of CPC - Maximum reading

Is the answer 1.44 x 0.8 = 1.152? If so the Zs of 1.35 is less than the BRB figure of 1.44 but more than the 1.152 figure (80%) so does this make it unacceptable?

Continuity of CPC - Maximum reading

Hi guys, I've just been looking into what the maximum allowed value is when testing for continuity of CPC but I can't seem to find one - Is there one? :o
