Looking for a USB PIC programmer

Yes you'll need to make a little RJ-11 to 6 pin SIL connector. Either that or use something like the breadboard cable kit (AC162069). If you prototype on breadboard, then you don't need the ZIF socket, just make an RJ-11 cable like the cable above and connect Vdd to Vdd, Vss to Vss on the PIC...

Looking for a USB PIC programmer

I would suggest that you buy a Microchip PICkit2 or PICkit3 and the Microchip Universal Programming Module (AC162049) if you need the ZIF socket. If you have more money, go for the ICD3 or RealICE, both of which I use day in day out. The PICkit2 is cheap though and of course integrates with...

    Bigger Earth cable -Shower

The CPC of all the circuits entering the bathroom should be bonded together. So there should be a similarly thick conductor in the light fitting etc (except where the criteria are met for no supplementary bonding)

    Induction Hob

On my hob, the blue and brown were crimped together and the two blacks were crimped together. Blacks were live, brown and blue were neutral. ?:|

If the skin is broken at both contact points, then yes.

    multiple shavers ?

They don't exist. Each item should be electrically separated, so you need a separate transformer for each socket.

    Fire hoods on downlighters

Fire rated downlights/hoods are only used to re-instate the fire barrier. Where does all this crap come from about using fire rated downlights if you have insulation round the fitting!?!

what make of VDE hand tools are you using

CK screwdrivers and CK Combicutter 3. Absolutely love the bit for bending conductors over. Always comes out really neat.

    Need a new label printer.

I have the Rhino 5000 kit. Well worth it, and handy for labelling heatshink tubing too.

no earth rod in tt system

What do you mean by the external metal fuse box unit? Are you implying that the CPCs end up connecting to the cast-iron cut-out? It may be the case that you have a TN-S supply at the cut-out.

    tt or not tt?

Not what the DNO guy said. There were triple drops to every house also including from this 5th conductor ?:|

    tt or not tt?

There is TN-S in some areas on overhead cables, but they're slowly getting removed by the DNO. Neutral is still at the bottom, then earth, then the three phases. I was chatting to one of the guys removing it recently from Cowbit in Lincs, now converted to TN-C-S, but still exists elsewhere.

Gigabit ;) . Gigabyte speeds would be quite something! :^O

    Heating up of neutral tails?

Doesn't quite work like that... ?:| There should be no difference in the severity on either conductor if conditions are the same. People just tend to take more care over phase connections thinking they are the ones that matter.
