Hi,

Just wondered why a larger csa earth cable is normally run to showers. Is the csa earth in cpc too small ??

Thanks

are u talking about suplimentary bonding?

Some people throw another earth cable from the CU to the shower, some don't, I've hardly seen any installs like that. I'd say it was more common to not do it, depends who you're following round I suppose! A common occurence is to run a 4mm from the showers earth terminal to the pipe feeding it somewhere, maybe this is what you've seen?

Overzealous bonding...

same concept as what was mentioned by Lurch and others on the shed thread.. about Rod & earth anything with a slight metal tint to it!!!]

:( :_|

99.9% not needed, inappropriate, unnecessary, normally done by half qualified or unqualified persons who have been told by a mate to bond his wifes left leg!

also common with unsightly earth clamps on towel rads etc...

Couple of really old properties that I have worked on, and neither had main bond to water stop cock,

however the one property had a 10 mm bond to pipework feeding copper water tank in loft,

the other had a 10 mm bond taken to pipework feeding a really old electric shower.

The CPC of all the circuits entering the bathroom should be bonded together. So there should be a similarly thick conductor in the light fitting etc (except where the criteria are met for no supplementary bonding)

Pardon?

All cpc's are connected at the CU. This is not bonding. I have no clue what you mean?
