    Neutral Earthing at source

Neutral does carry current and that current will take the easiest rout.

Industrial installations are by nature TN-S unless dispensation is granted. Public supplies can be any mix of TN-S, TN-C-S, PME or TT. Read this. Have a look at this.

    UPS , Shutters connection

Talk to your local fire prevention officer. A UPS is fallible, I’ve had a couple fail on critical systems. In each case they had been sat there for years and never had to kick in until needed, then they fell flat on their face. All we lost was data, you’re talking about life.

    Exit Poll

Precious metals went berserk but are settling down now. Pity I hadn’t the cash to buy yesterday.

    Electric power more sustainable than...

I can just imagine the screw up the DWP would make of this. It would equate to a secondary currency with an even more incompetent treasury.

    Electric power more sustainable than...

So would you stop my disability payments? I’ve paid more than my fair share in to the system, to get anything back I had to take the DWP to court twice. I was forced to retire at 56 due to ill health, all I could get was “job seekers allowance”. Three years of fighting made my health worse...

    Electric power more sustainable than...

In the 90’s I put a cable installed in the 30’s back in service, it’s still there as far as I know. Harmonics, along with joints and tee offs are the main problem. An old 0.3²in PILC will stand a higher load than its equivalent 195mm² PVC. The down side is the PILC cables will be 3½ core. EV’s...

Cheaper today than in 2009 !!!

One classic was the great white chief phoning me, “where are you?” At the time I was balanced on stepladders on top of a 120ft high crane with my left hand fingers in a hunting tooth limit switch. The reply once I’d got the phone out of my pocket using my right hand would get me banned from...

    Brown bread

Look at Waitrose for Schneider Brot German vollkornbrot. I’ll admit I took a liking to “black bread”. Just to upset my son I’ve ordered a large jar of sauerkraut for Christmas, he can’t stand the smell but we’ll be fighting over the German sausages and cheeses.

They even had the phone numbers of the pubs I drank in!

Cheaper today than in 2009 !!!

My first mobile was in the 90’s, calls cost a small fortune. Someone calling you paid a premium. BT landline call forwarding was daylight robbery. Back then plant maintenance electricians didn’t normally carry a mobile and filofax but I was running two businesses on the side. My big mistake was...

Anyone on Plusnet Broadband ( "We'll do yer proud")

That's going back to before I was born. Is it still going?
  13. Tony S

An interesting problem ..to me anyway.

I've had the same AOL e-mail account for the last twenty years with no problems.

    Brown bread

I hardly eat any bread and have an aversion to brown, a former partner insisted I ate it. Ate it? I hated it, cheap carp from Tesco. Long gone are the days of the local baker, good home made bread, pies and my favourite oat cakes.

Good to see the Forum is back .

I switched from Chrome to FireFox, still the same result. Things are back to normal now so no worries.

Disconnection time 120 volts Uo vs 150 volts Uo

120V or 230V to earth is the norm throughout the world. I'm not sure about Outer Mongolia.

Why can't customers tell you the truth?

It happens in all lines of our work. “I never touched it, it did it on its own.” “It was working OK and then stopped.” “It was in auto so nearly killing that guy wasn’t my fault.”

    Lost -N- Found..............

Opening the top of a furnace over the top of a fitter’s tool bag didn’t make me popular. His bag and screwdrivers were on fire, me laughing didn’t help 😂
