An interesting fault - a bit of a Quiz

Had similar on a TT system where the overhead cables had been rubbing together over the years and finally shorted out causing both line and neutral to be at the same potential. The incoming line conductor was supported by a catenary which was also the neutral, only two properties running of the...

Proximity of electrical and gas installations

The cupboard being used as a paint store isn't ideal either. You have mentioned 2011, is there any paperwork to back this date up as that looks quite a bit older?

Options after being made redundant (kind of)

I would consider agency/contracting work to tide you over until you could build a customer base/reputation. This would keep the cash flow going. I know someone in Peterborough who does national work including telecoms and some government work (schools/NHS etc) if you get stuck? I'm in a similar...

    Underground cable.

Rip it out as that SY is not suitable to be used like that and will degrade quite quickly, also SY is a non-standard cable and it's use is frowned upon.

    Chernobyl on Sky Atlantic

Watched the whole lot, excellent dramatisation but they used one actor to play the part of many scientists and engineers who worked hard to sort the whole mess out. I won't tell you what happens in the end...

SWA termination would be better assessed on the AM2 or is that just me thinking logically?

    RCD

I asked the NIC tech helpline a couple of months ago and they stated it was perfectly acceptable to use RCD socket-outlets if the installation method allowed. And I second the SY question...

    A couple of boo boo's

I visited a rooftop site in Croydon a few years ago, it was on a block of flats with the telecoms equipment behind some hoardings. There was a net over the lot to stop pigeons getting in but they did and couldn't get out. The landlord had got a contractor in to shoot all the pigeons and remove...

Help! My tenant has recently changed to a smart meter now Economy 7 not working to storage heaters /water cylinder

Ideally a couple of pictures of the meter and consumer units would help but I don't think the Economy 7 circuits not working is coincidence... What is your location?
