Two DNO supply cables in the same head?

Thank you for your calming influence Admin. I've had a much better day in work today and after re-reading my over sensative rant last night, I think I may need to actually read what I write before hitting the 'send' button in future. To anyone I offended, I will mind my Ps & Qs in future...

Two DNO supply cables in the same head?

OK....... Lets get a few things straight here; kme; how dare you assume I opened/dismantled that service cut-out! Can you highlight in my OP exactly where it states I personally carried out that task? As a responsible, fully qualified electrician I was horrified to see what my friend had...

Two DNO supply cables in the same head?

Hiya folks. A mate asked me to have a look at the supply to his new house at the weekend. Opened the meter cupboard and found what looks like two DNO cables going to the same head. There is a street light fairly close by so wondered if the DNO would have run a supply from their side of the...

    Shed earthing

Well spotted folks. Of course I meant adaptable boxes NOT JBs. Glad some people are awake. Out of interest, just how big would the junction box need to be to terminate a 10mm SWA cable? Ha,ha,ha,ha. Bigs

    Shed earthing

Hello folks. Please don't shoot me down if this has been covered before, just point me in the right direction. We recently ran a power supply from a house with PME supply down a very long garden (200ft), via SWA to a large shed. The 'run' went as follows; From CU MCB in T & E to junct...

    cu neutral terminals

I have worked on several makes of CUs and don't think any of the neutral bars are able to hold 25mm conductors. The terminal that holds the link to the main switch might though. May I suggest a 'Henley' block? Bigs

    Led lighting

If my rusty electronic theory is correct, a diode will only conduct in one direction. If you use a continuity tester, I'm thinking it will read ok in one direction and won't read in the other. With positive lead of meter on (suspected) + wire and negative lead on (suspected) - wire it will...

    PV

G-H, I'm not looking for an arguement here but I'm going to disagree with your reply my friend. I have been sent all kinds of information (from several sources) showing me how domestic customers can claim government grants for installation of PV and solar equipment right now. The information...

Hello folks. I am hearing more and more about this photovoltaic/solar generator stuff. Anyone else up to date on this gear? Is it going to be a big seller? Biggs.

    Commercial testing

I have to say several commercial property owners I have spoken to have all said their buildings & contents AND public liability insurers have insisted on seeing their copy of the electrical test certificates which MUST have been completed on NICEIC 'Approved Contractors' paperwork. They were...

    Commercial testing

Forgive my ignorance here, but once you have done the work on a commercial property, what paperwork do you complete? Surely the results of the tests you carry out have to be recorded somewhere? Bigs.

    ELECSA members

Hi folks, I appologise if you have read a similar thread to this before but I might have found some decent work in Spain and I am trying to find out if I can work there legitimately. A friend of mine is registered with ELECSA and he tells me they have assured him they are recognised WORLD...

    Working in Europe

Hi again guys. Just thought I would update anyone who reads this thread. I have just come back from Spain. Me and Mrs Biggles were visiting friends that have bought a property on the biggest Polaris World developement in Europe, near Murcia in southern Spain. There are SEVEN British (Ex-Pat)...

    Working in Europe

Hi guys. Does anyone know the set-up for domestic sparks working in a European country? Is there a European governing body? Are the rest of Europe signed up to comply with 17th edition? I have been asked to do some private work for British owners/ex-pats on a Polaris developement in Spain...

    Non payer (well, short changer)

Hi Sy. This is one of the things that worries me the most about being self employed. I have read all the replies you had, but in the end, what exactly can you do about people like this? I'm no push-over mate and I would be furious if this happened to me. I appreciate what you say about...
