    Bathroom Extractor Fan (No 2)

There would be no point in keeping the old ceiling fan if it's not extracting.  A good inline fan would do the job and probably a lot quieter. I would convince them to replace the fan as you would have to cut additional holes in the ceiling and soffit.

It's all about terminology, yes has fitted a few of them but never called them a 'Cooker Control Unit' just cooker switch or cooker isloator or cooker switch with outlet or isolator switch for cooker. A quick look in the screwfix catalogue and they are 45A DP cooker switch/13A switch outlet not CCU.

Thanks SL. Pictures shows a lot more than what words can describe.

In the OSG, it states for cookers/hobs, Take 10A then 30% of the rest and add 5A if a socket outlet is incorporated in the control unit. What does it mean by 'if a socket outlet is incorporated in the control unit'?

    Garage cable

Thanks for the response guys, and a great description Rev. There are no spare ways on the the existing CU and it looks like the house(Porch) was built around the CU which make it difficult to carry out any work on it with limited access, the easiest solution would be to split the tails from the...

    Garage cable

Just a quick question Looking to put in a garage CU (2-way 16A and 6A). The main CU is 17th edition with 100A main fuse, 25mm tails and 16mm earthing. If I henley the tails and run a SWA to the garage, does the cable need to be 25mm or can I get away with a smaller cable? Thanks

    CU stickers

I agree, but got pull on my last annual assessment that I was missing stickers and circuit identification and circuit details needs to be fully filled.

    CU stickers

With all the stickers we have to put on the CU for every board change; circuit identification, RCD test, periodic inspection, 2 colour wiring and no CPC on lighting, the CU's are not big enough. I usually put the stickers on the wall next to the CU but if the wall is brick not plasterboard...

    Bonding Question

Thanks The work was done previously by the homeowner who is a retired commercial sparkie and admitted he was not up to speed with the current regs. He bonded to the pipework in the loo. I couldn't see where the incomming water was as the fitted kitchen was covering the stop cock. The...

    Bonding Question

Hi Just a quick question. The bonding to the gas has to be within 600mm from the meter, does this apply to the water i.e. within 600mm from the internal stop cock if the incomming is not plastic? Thanks.

    Another bonding question

Thanks guys. Just one more thing, is there any reason why you cannot use the existing air bricks to run your cables. Thanks

    Another bonding question

The bonding from the MET is run externally, 10mm cable clipped to the brickwork all the way to the gas meter (about 12 meters). Should this cable at least be ran in conduit or upgraded to 16mm?. Would it be down to me to get this rectified? Thanks

    Catenary

Got to run some power from a bungalow to garage, gonna have to run it on catenary. Bungalow is ok but the highest point on the garage is 2.8M. The minimum height on the on-site guide is 3M. I cannot cross the path as the fence is only 6 foot high and the path is that imprinted concrete stuff...
