Just been reading the posts and decided to add one the you may or may not know about. VW Transporter upto 59 plate. To dead lock the doors you push the lock button on your keys twice. Small problem with some vans the back doors unlock leaving your van open to all. This is an intermittent fault...

    council rewire.

Family relative is just having there kitchen rewired by the local authority along with some other building work. Went around just to have a look at what was being done in general and not specifically the electrics. The kitchen was nearly finished and tiling was done. The 2nd fixing left a lot to...

    17yr old apprentices

Found 1 second fixing sockets with the phone next to him on Facebook. Watched him for a while and he spent more time updating his status than terminating the cables. Think he was a bit shocked when I vented my anger. I think your right they seem to think the world will end if they don't respond...

    17yr old apprentices

Been working with a couple of young apprentices today. OMG. They only have one speed whilst walking and they have their phones in their hands more than a screwdriver. If this carries on tomorrow someone will be going home with my boot up their arse and a squashed phone.

A bit to north for me Dave. Although have worked in Inverness before. Was a bit of a trek from home. Canoe - was not trying to be cockey just making a comment. Can't remember the last time I was speced a 6A on a lighting circuit. Not knowing people's experience try to make it simple.

    A job I don't want.

Have done modular work with galv conduit in the walls before. Not a problem. LSF singles are normal spec for a lot of jobs like this as for a 10A mcb for lighting it's fine as 1.5mm can carry more than 10A. The mcb protects the cable. As long as he sticks to the spec should be fine. The way work...

    PIR (EICR)

KME apologies accepted and apologies for not making myself clear on my first post. Have not found out the earthing arrangements of installation. Have only had a quick site of information and don't think earthing arrangements were mentioned.

By IT I take it you mean isolating transformer. If so yes they have an IPS system in place ( Isolated Power Supply) two large transformers in the bottom of a cabinet which feeds most of the sockets Manator you've got me thinking now. As they are only giving me original Certs and as fit drawings...

Theatres are 5 years old. All as fit drawings available along with previous test results. Theatres will be totally out of action for the weekend and as they have their own incomer and panel board will be able to shut off the whole of the installation. Judging by the information I have been given...

Cheers Manator. The company I am doing the testing for is a NHS approved contractor. Their test engineer has retired. As I do loads of hospital installs for them they have asked me to do them. Have my own rubber mat which we use when testing panels. Have seen some drawings for theatres it...

    PIR (EICR)

50% to 60% of my work is mainly inspecting and testing. MEIGAN is obviously more intense but have done all this on numerous occasions albeit on new installations. EICR or the old PIRs were a very minute part of my work and like anything if you don't do it very often then there are something's...
