But that standard was set before Detectors with 5 Year batteries were a available. It's technology and moving with times, when something comes along then the standards should move with times and say mains operated or 5 year battery minimum.

If they should be replaced every 5 years regardless, and you can now buy them with 5 year built in batteries, why should they have to have mains supply. Is just head in the sand stuff. Apparently some LBC accept this.
