Halogen downlights against joists - fire risk?!

The transformers may work but will reduce the lifetime of the led's. You need to use an LED driver. How about replacing the lost with gu10's as the LED lamps contain their own drivers then?

Halogen downlights against joists - fire risk?!

You would need to read any manufacturers instructions to ensure they are suitable for installing so close to a joist and covered in insulation.

correct method of stripping twin & earth?

And you know this how? If the copper has stretched then so has any insulation over it also reducing its thickness and, therefore, effectiveness.

Where is our right to freedom of speech gone?

Then why start what (and I have just read them both) appears to be a thread aimed at causing a conflict? If you want to start threads like that there are many other not so friendly forums you can join and troll on. It will not be tolerated here by either the mods or the regulars. I would...

correct method of stripping twin & earth?

Anyone who disputes the altering of the cpc using "cheesewire" method really should think about it a lot more. Its a fact! Same can apply to putting any strain on the conductors including (but not limited to), pulling the insulated conductors apart to remove the sheath and excessive drawing of...

Where is our right to freedom of speech gone?

It's now an offense to even mention freedom of speech within a mile of parliament. The act may still be there but subsequent laws have rendered it useless as steps horse and cart insurance. Also the bill only applies to mps having freedom of speech in parliament. Nothing about normal people or...

    van insurance cancelled!!!

What a load of brown stuff. How many larger businesses have vans registered to home rather than office addresses? None. Does it say in the small print van has to be registered to same address as main driver?

Termination of twin & earth cable

Doubling over is an old practise that should not be used any more. Modern accessories have no issue gripping small csa cables so no need for doubling over. Also makes it harder (if not impossible) to get extra cables in when required.

Change of use of circuit- RCD ot not?

To my mind these are new circuits even if they are reusing old cables and any wiring needing RCD protection under 7671 will still need an RCD along with being notified to LABC (as new circuits).

Where is our right to freedom of speech gone?

Wrong Country. We have no Freedom of Speech in the UK. Never have had.

    cooker cable

You take that from this thread?

    cooker cable

Isn't that a backwards way to work? The overcurrent protective device should be selected such that is protects the cable rather then the other way round.

Electrical Danger Notice!!! Client Seriously Not Happy

Aside from the debate over if a EDN should have been issued, I am still unsure what she thinks she is going to sue you for? Of course her inurance will be impacted and if she fails to disclose it, they will null and void it. Also if she makes a claim while knowing that she has been issued a EDN...
