Hi all.

my mates client is getting the run around with her energy suplier, she is trying to get an isolator fitted. He said he will just fit one for her, I dont think he can. Oppinions please;)

He can fit one ready, but officially, he can't connect the Distributors tails to it. They have to do that. ;)

officially, anything after the meter is the customers, so he can do what he wants with it after it leaves the meter. just to turn off supply, that involves either removing cable from meter, or pulling fuse

pair of 8" pliers and just cut the tails!!!

job done

no faffing.

weird tho, I didnt realise I had an isolator until I decided to move my CU and noticed it must have been there all the time. :D

I just tend to chop tails live and into iso they go. Its a big enough cable to avoid touching bare parts. Switching off everything on board first so there is no load on.

This is exactly what my post has been asking.

The supplier will remove the cut-out and 'allow' you to fit an isolator. The DNO has nothing to do with it.

Andy.... 'officially, anything after the meter is the customers, so he can do what he wants with it after it leaves the meter. just to turn off supply, that involves either removing cable from meter, or pulling fuse' The meter and the cut-out fuse DO NOT belong to the customer. If you want to remove seals than that is one matter however please don't think that working live on meter intakes is acceptable!

Looks like there's plenty there to me Mr S. ;)

Ahhhh...... Bacon has returned! That sweet, sweet smell..... ;)
