Why on earth do you want the 16th ed  Bluey ? ( Red one in the loft by the way....along with a 15th blue copy  and a 13th with no covers at all)

You'll find the 13th useful Bluey,,,, tells you how many 7/.029,s  you can cram into a 3/4" conduit with six right angle bends and a double set without using tallow .

No earth wire of course

Deke,

I believe that it is a very good idea to have all previous versions IF you are coming into this trade as a new starter, as if you are doing EICR's then you can understand the ideas behind the original design and installation.

As I have said before, the first regs exam I had to do was the 16th as previous to that it was not a requirement for the work I did, it was doubtful then but I did it anyway as the company paid!

I ow have copies of every major edition and some of the intermediate ones also.

I have a friend, who acts as an expert witness.

He was working for the prosecution when the defendants solicitor stated that it was not a requirement to undertake I&T when the install was undertaken.

He used the 1st edition to prove it was!!!

Thanks again for your input guys :D

Got the book today and its in better nic than all my other regs books!

Mr sidewinder I agree to that its a good idea to have older versions of the regs yet another reason I bought it but I fear older versions may be harder to find! hint hint Beer tokens? Ive got a bottle of Jamersons in the van ;)

Also my job is no longer as secure as it was it will be helpful if I go down the drive by periodic route :)

Lazy git!!!! :slap

AFAIK the current colour sequence started with the 15th and it goes;

RED - GREEN - YELLOW - BLUE - BROWN - RED - GREEN - YELLOW - BLUE - BROWN - RED - etc..etc..etc..etc..

so our next colour 'should' be YELLOW!
Yes I am a lazy git but it was past midnight, cold, wet, and the van was down the other end of the street. :coat

Thanks Again :)

16th ed has bullrush charts for 1361 fuses ;)

As for the drive by's went to one the other day: council... old c'tree board... brass socket outlets no fly leads and 137v on all metal light fittings recently tested by a large contractor, not surprised they didnt go in the place was a sh*thole!

Why would the sockets need fly!-leads?

Your always getting me stepps!  :C

There was no cpc between the metal back box and brass outlet plate. It was wired in 2.5t&e in 20mm pvc conduit.

:put the kettle on
surface metal back box?

if not, then very possibly no fly-lead required, its another myth that all boxes need to be earthed to the face plate

I seem to remember  our firdt

I seem to remember   our first ever 'conversation' here was about this, and i think i won     If the containment is used as the cpc then a fly lead is needed.

I too have problems remembering this morning!

I had always understood this to be good practice and it was the way I was trained.

There is no specific guidance on this but I believe that it should be done this way.

Slipper are you on the vino? brings me back to our conversation on ex-council properties where containment is cpc and no one had bothered to earth between stop end and socket outlet.
