Few months back at the NIC tech talk they went over some of the proposals....

I am trying to remember what they were...

Additions to the Special locations..

new sections about medical Establishments such as doctors surgeries, dentist, vet practices.. where patients could be operated upon with mains powered equipment.. but are outside of a normal Hospital environment.

(Cuz Hospitals already have their own additional stringent regs & guidelines)

They implied it was extracts from some of the hospital rules & regs that are applicable to practices outside of hospital..

if that makes sense!?

Amendments to the inspection & testing section..

include some of the sort of stuff in best practice guide about codes etc..

also talk of dropping code 4.

Requirements for lightning surge protection units built into distribution boards

to protect circuits with vulnerable equipment..

Its not an ammendment , its corrections and its already on the iet site

I had this a months ago as a pdf, and it turned up in the post yesterday

Guess they must have had a backlog in sending them out

As far as I know:

BS7671:2008 Amendment 1, the draft for public comment (DPC) of which is due to be published on 9 June 2010, with a 3 month consultation period.

The target date for the publication of Amendment 1 is 29 June 2011.

I have not seen the DPC yet, however others I know of have.

As soon as I get one I'll look over it and let you know.

I think we know this will be the annual ammendment to swill the coffers by getting us to pay for something else
