So I feel I've been duped - the so called "free" download from the IET isn't free if you want to print it ................. so they want you to pay £5 so you can print it yourself.

And there was me wanting to update my knowledge prior to doing an estimate for a charge point.

Frustrated.

The default document viewer that comes with Zorin lets you print it. And you can turn off the watermark as well.

Well these part timers . :innocent .. come into the trade for a mere 40 odd yrs   and they're off ,    hurling their stocks & dies into the canal  and living it up ,  La Dolca Vita !     They should be girding their loins in readiness to embrace the  19 th and 20th editions   and adding a trailer to their van to carry all the OSGs   and EV instruction manuals.

I think for quite a few there is only so much of a lifetime you can give to being told every 10 years or so you are not properly qualified and you need another pile of books and pass another exam to prove you can read them

With the weight of all the regs books, OSG's, Guidance notes, etc the weight of the trailer would probably push you into another mire of Tachograph regs

I wish I'd thought of that  !!     How true !   

When Part Pee  was first talked of  I thought it would't affect me  .  after a lifetime working in  industry & commercial  I 'd become self employed  and was doing more & more domestic  new builds & extensions  . 

They were talking about being   "competent"    all of a sudden ,  like a fool I thought well I've been  a  JIB Approved Electrician for  years & years  and  this is what we referred to as "House Bashing "   so what do I need to prove  after running jobs for years , then estimating & supervising .? 

I never imagined we'd be paying £500  a year to be re - inspected for the pleasure of  earning a living .

The reality is though Deke, part p was never really meant for people with the skill set already only they couldn’t discriminate between those that did and those that didn’t. This is how you knew That they knew they were about to dumb down the trade.

And then they brought in the 17th RCD everything reg to cover up any potential problems

Some proof reading on the first one wouldn't go amiss but to print an incorrect equation in a technical publication???

published a correction

we are meant to have access to a copy of latest regs

we can't print it

Doesn’t every edition of the regs and OSG come with errors and the only way to over come them is buy another copy? 

As for the free download, it's only free until you want to print it - which is also as huge con
