Hi,
Just wondered if anyone on here has done this ?.
If so did you get many calculations questions to do ?.
Reason for asking is I have great trouble with formula's at the tender age of over sixty ...... adiabatic equation seems to be in this time for which in the real world an app would do along with most other calculations.
I have always got there by using my head eventually just a bit time consuming for me in a 2 minute a question exam .

I’ve only recently finally got my 18th 😁

It’s all multiple choice AFAIR
Was told I would need a calculator !!, I don't remember having one for my 17th, but due to having to join Napit for the odd new circuit requiring certification update is long overdue .
At my age 2 minutes to find and calculate an answer is not as easy as it was .
I have been doing maintenance work for a good while ,however back to self employment for my last 5 years seems the way to go .

I don't ever recall using a calculator on these exams.

I did the 18th amd 2 exam online,,,, was told that I'd need a calculator and not an app on my phone so went and bought one.... In the end I didn't need it... thankfully it wasn't that expensive, but I had to spend a far bit of time figuring out how to use it properly

Hopefully mine will be that way too !
Also an online exam for me ,I don't think I would of bothered otherwise.

I had two questions that needed the use of a calculator, I am also rubbish at formulas so didn’t waste to much time on them.

There are various on line mock exams, some free, some you pay for 😁
It's electrics we pay all the time to earn a crust ,however now it's harder for folks without a level 3 and test and inspect cert perhaps this industry can make a bit more like those user rich plumbers do ! no offence intended plumbers .

Everyone has the same trouble, my advise is stick at it . I am the world's number one who hates maths. I keep up to date using YouTube. It's handy to know the adiabatic formulas as well as how to use them with say the osg. There are other formulas as well. Keep your hand in. In many instances you never need them specially if someone is pricing jobs. But some can help you out like finding a break in a wall. YouTube makes it easyier and good for learning. Example divided 44 by CSA will give you your MV/A/M . And I am useless really.

Also for speed….. the questions relate to the parts of the book, when I took the 18th ….

Part 1 - 4 questions
Part 2 - 2 questions
Part 3 - 6 questions
Part 4 - 15 questions
Part 5 - 14 questions
Part 6 - 4 questions
Part 7 - 10 questions
Appendices - 5 questions

So if you keep a separate note of where you are in the book, you shouldn’t have to keep going back and forth. I am not sure though if this is the same now as it was last year so I might have just confused things 😄
