I've been asked to quote to fit a new storage heater, but it's in a prefabricated bungalow and would be a pig of a job to pull a new cable from the CU, not to mention the possibility of asbestos, and there's no spare capacity in the CU.

So I would like to take a feed from the adjacent bedroom that already has a Dimplex XL24N and run the very short distance to the adjoining wall in surface trunking.

The new room will also have an XL24N. So that would be 2 1.7KW heaters on the same 2.5mm radial fed from a 16A MCB. Making a total load of 14.78A @ 230V

So it's within the rating of the MCB and the cable, just a bit unconventional to fit 2 storage heaters on one radial. What do you guys think?

My first question would have to be have you got either your model number or power rating wrong there Pro?

e.g.

The above chart reckons a XL24N is 3400watts! ?

sure you haven't got XL12N's?

Oops yes, two XL12's it is. An XL24 would be OTT in a bedroom.

So yes looking at it another way, the XL12 has 2 elements, the XL24 has 4. And it's okay to run a single XL24 from one 16A radial, so I think it's okay to run two XL12's.

if you do the maths then I don't see why it would be a problem?

Check the manufacturers installation instructions to see if it says it needs to be on a dedicated circuit or not.
