Many times most retailers will stock one item and for the difference in price it makes commercial sense. A two way and a one way are almost the same thing in wiring terms.
On the switch you will see a common denominated terminal, this is normally a permanent live connection from the lighting wiring circuit, and another terminal identified by L1. For wiring purposes these are the only two terminals you should be looking at. It also makes no difference which cable you connect to common or L1.
The switch will operate all the same. There is no need to wire anything into the terminal designated L2 unless you have a two way switch, commonly seen on stairs or corridors
My opening comment is not a derogatory remark against yourself, its just that now and again we get some paid electricians asking the very same question. .
Very true too the above. So if you want to have your switch off at the top, you must get it right if you get it wrong and you have the switch in the on position but the light is off, you will have to swop the wires around.
