right Deke,

if you dont mind you can sit aside for this one and let some of the learners have a go at this one.

how can I get a 7.3G image file onto a standard DVD, ?

:C

it wont work if I compress it?

I dont even think you can compress an image file, its a direct bootable file, or directly playable on a normal DVD player.

mmmm,

I was thinking that Doc,(but using an 8G stick!), but it means I still have to stream it from my PC to the nintendo to get it on my TV. :(

and I dont think my mate would even come close to being able to do anything remotely like that..........

As suggested above, burn it to a dual layer disk. They are approx 8.5GB.

sorry, mr kayak, but if Mr Adder has it right then we may be in business, 10mins left of compression by the looks of it,

external HDD between my ubuntu and XP machines, so its a bit slow, then back to ubuntu for the burn.!!!!

drum roll at the ready........

thanks anyway canoe. :)

Be supprised if it isn't. Most made in the last few years are.

Close canoe,

Ian, its not very new!

All sorted now, took two goes at shrinking it though to get it small enough!

Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions, and to Sidewinder for e.mailing me the dvdshrink prog. :)
