Hello,

I have bought my children a Intex 8' x 30" above ground swimming pool that holds approxamatly 2,150 liters of water.

I have been looking at the 3 kw electric pool heaters that can be used with the pool pump (external to the pool).

what are the running costs for these? does anyone now please?

I'd be more concerned about putting an electric heater in the water supply to be honest.

oh, it will cost you your per hour unit rate times 3 to use the heater.

and it will take it a long (LONG) time to heat that amount of water up,

best leave it a a couple of weeks or so.

3 units per hour.

3kW would very closely equate to 3kWh so like Andy has said find out how much your electricity provider charges per unit, and the cost of the heater will cost you 3 times that per hour to run. Average UK tariff would put that at about 43pence per hour.

Well, that's going to be F expensive AND slow.

For what its worth I just installed a 3Kw 7L under sink heater...and that tokk 9 minutes to reach temperature. Admittedly I doubt that you want the water at 80 degrees! But bear in mind that this heater was quite well insulated whereas in your case there will be considerable losses... :coat
