A couple of weeks back I was replacing an old rewirable distribution board in a factory . Having fitted an MEM Eaton 24 way T/Phase I was short of a 10 amp SP MCB to power some office lights.
I fitted a Proteus from the van ( it sort of fitted) temporary till the next day.
Return with the correct breaker, switch off the Proteus, remove the two cables from it , accompanied by a great splatting and sparking performance. Find that the Proteus does not actually switch off although it felt positive in both directions. Have never known a breaker do that before.
And don't give me the "Oh you should have tested it first" sanctimonious stuff 'cos I bet you would have done the same.
Deke
