What are the rulings on the locating of the meter AC Isolator that sits between the generation meter and the existing electrical system. Been told we need to get them near the existing Consumer Unit. This a pig to do in these particular properties. The other team seem to stick them where they like, including in the external meter box next to PV consumer unit.

Thanks

Isn't it supposed to go next to the inverter, along with the DC isolator, so anyone working on the inverter can isolate both sides?

There is one up there too. AC and DC isolator up in  loft with inverter, then through generation meter and then another 'remote' ac between meter and existing install (or new 2 way cu in this case).

similar to this

The generation meter is in the loft with inverter

ok, any more info on this before I go back down in morning? if I fit a new CU and it isn't next to existing CU. Is the isolator meant to be adjacent new or existing?

Or, doesn't it matter where it goes so long as it states correct place on the stickers?

Thanks again

when inverter is remote from CU or mini CU then you should have an AC isolator at both ends of AC circuit, especially if connecting to existing CU. With a mini CU tapped into tails I have always considered this surplus to requirements, as you can double pole isolate with main switch, but regs require isolator that can be locked, so should really have AC isolator at this point aswell.

We are fitting at both ends, the question was does the CU end one go near the new mini cu or the the existing cu or doesn't it matter. My brain is fried so my explanations are probably not the best :innocent

Thanks

I think it would go at your mini CU.  To isolate the PV circuit
