Hello everyone

My husband has a rechargeable shaver which has a transformer with a 3 pin standard UK plug on it.  He wants to plug it into the 3 pin shaver socket in our bathroom.  Is it possible to buy this type of adaptor?  All the one's I've see, on eBay & Amazon for example, are for use overseas, and cannot be used in the UK.  I thought it would be simple, but apparently not.  I would be most grateful for help from this forum.  Thank you

Does the other end of the power lead (the razor end) unplug?  If so it's highly likely you will be able to buy an alternative mains lead with the TWO pin plug that fits a shaver socket.

Have you a link to the shaver?

My rechargeable shaver has a normal lead with 2pin plug on it, all the gubbins ate in the shaver,

perhaps yours has a 2to3 pin adapter already fitted that simply needs removed,

The shaver does unplug at the shaver end - BUT - the original lead has a transformer at the 3 pin plug end. (Like on my mobile and other electrical stuff) What would be the consequences of replacing with a lead without a transformer? Basically - can I go back to the original question - can you buy a 3 pin to 2 pin converter that can be used in the UK?

I think we may have somewhat outdated equipment !! Maybe it would be cheaper, and eaier to buy a new razor !!

No you most definitely cannot run it without the original transformer.

If it's a "wall wart" transformer, i.e built into a 13A plug then your idea of an adaptor is a non starter, the weight and bulk of it would just pull the shaver plug out, even if you could buy such an adaptor (which you can't)

Why not just leave the razor plugged in in the bedroom and unplug it to use in the bathroom?

Very grateful thanks to all of you who have responded.

Hubby has been doing as Dave suggested and plugging it in in the bedroom. We were just looking for a slightly more elegant solution. If it doesn't exist, then we just carry on as we are. The problem in a 1980s house is that there just aren't enough plugs for all the electrical equipment that we have. We have extensions with sockets on, where we dare, but if we put many more on we trip the switch on the fusebox. We only have two 3 pin sockets in each room and that is nowhere near enough for mobile phones, iPods, battery chargers, computers, printers, scanners, photocopiers, bedside lamps, a telescope, etc etc etc. Maybe we should just move house!!

I am very grateful for all of your suggestions and it has confirmed my feeling that the 3 to 2 plug just doesn't exist.
