Fitted a 'digital' aerial for a customer that has 4 port masthead. Also came with a mains booster. I never commected up the booster as was only running cable to 2 rooms. Customer has no picture (freeview) whatsoever. They are in a freeview area but the TV's just do not pick up ANY signal.

Would the aerial NEED the mains?

Might be a good idea if you named the manufacturer of the equipment;)

Sounds like that box you thought was an amp is in fact a remote power supply to power the mast head which sends voltage up the coak top port 1 and rf down coax trough output in box where the tv in that room plugs into. does it look like this ?

A masthead amplifier will not pass any signal unless it has its 12v power supply. This can normally be connected to any input on the masthead, so from any aerial point in the house the PSU will need to need to be plugged in.

Hope that helps.

you need to fit the "mains booster"it will actually be a power supply which sends 12vdc up the coax to activate the masthead amp, usually can be located at any of the tv points fed from the mha.

No more posts from Cirrus!!..Maybe he read the installation instructions and got it sorted..But did someone suggest he connect it to the mains? :innocent .."I have visions now".. :D
