The new am2 has four assessments[sections] A,B,C & D. Assessment A is further split into two sections A1 includes Risk Assessment and Safe Isolation of the rig assigned to you, time allowed 1 hour. Section A is your composite installation, time allowed 8.5hrs. Section B is, Inspection, Testing and Certification of your composite installation, time allowed 3.5hrs. Section C is again split into two, C1 safe isolation of the fault rig assigned to you and C fault diagnosis, time allowed 2hrs. Section D online multiple-choice exam, 30 questions in one hour, open book [bRB, OSG, GN3 & Electrical Installers guide to the buliding regs] 70% to pass.

Please note that the times have changed on some assessments [sections] therefore you are no longer allowed to go over time.

Candidates watch out for the following: safe isolation, not switching off main switch, label not attached, key left on show, not proving voltage indicator before/after the 10 tests.

Composite: Not installing the correct size cables, bonding connections/clamps loose, wrong type/current rating of MCB's installed, wrong fixings used on FP200, not wiring S-Plan to spec. functional not working.

Testing: not understanding the required tests, example not knowing how to prove polarity dead and live, how many test on a ring circuit, Ze test. How many test to be carried out for PFC. Certification: not completing all forms correctly.

Fault diagnosis, once again safe isolation has to carried out in the prescibed order, you are given 7 faults all wiring faults, only stating the type of fault and how to rectify.

Online exam as it is an open book should be passed without any problems.

Hope this information helps.
