Surely we hve always had the regulation that says  (Somewhere)  Fire & escape ighting cables should be adequatly supported throughout their length.

From way back , pyros for fire alarms should not be supported by , say, round cable clips which would melt .

I really do think people should read and digest before they make assumptions.

Like Sidewinder I have done polymers as part of my degree, I even have the polymer database still on my PC if anyone wants to be bored to death reading it!!

Perhaps the old wooden backed wylex boards were not so bad afterall, it does take quite a bit to set light to hardwood! I've seen quite a few with burnt out terminals within yet the board hasn't gone on fire like we here of a lot of plastic con-units doing. I'm not happy when the I see re-wireables installed and the little plastic cover that says FUSES on it missing though - the remains of the fusewire does eject out the ends of the ceramic tube! but that is an installer/user issue not an issue with the design itself.

What colour is the full BS 7671 now then. BS 7671 2008 regs was red; 2011 amendment it was green. When did the second amendment come in and did the colour of BS 7671 change?

No more comments from the OP since the extracts from the relevant product standards were posted?

It seems also that the OP has posted elsewhere, and someone there has been reading this thread as there is a poster who is bringing up the product standard argument days after I did on here.

Hello,

I always thought the standard meant 'non flame propagating'  In other words cable and enclosures will flame up but should self extinguish when the flame is removed.... I foe one would miss ge-wizz plastic adaptable boxes.  And further, Ireland is addicted to them, they are everywhere....

Doc...It's only for "switch gear" enclosures if you read my previous post quoting the proposed reg,,,,and if you read Sideys post then all modern DB enclosures should already be complying with this reg,,, it's already part of the product standard
