Am I the only one on here who regularly takes payment by cheque and need to go to the bank to pay it in?  Try doing that with n line banking.

I guess there must be some mechanism for posting a cheque somewhere to pay it in, thus further adding to the delay before it clears.

This can only encourage the jobs that are paid in cash, to not be paid into the bank but rather the cash spent if there is no convenient place to pay it in. Might that result in some people putting less into the accounts?

I notice the reaction to this as my local Natwest branches have long disappeared .    I can pay cheques in at my local Post Office  with a NatWest envelope  , no charge , they have a deal with the PO  apparently .    But don't accept cash .

So , as I did today , I drive 6 miles to the Aldridge  branch  or 6 miles and a long walk  if I go to the Sutton Coldfield branch .

Apart from that I do online banking  or pay my mate by BACS   so perhaps its my own fault . ?

And just a thought  ......... if you pay in £5000   or more  in cash  the banks have to flag it up as possible money laundering .    Last year I had a problem trying to pay £5000 from the bank  into an ISA .  The girl at the Building Soc.  said  alter it to  £4999.00    :C

Just another case of your life being monitored and your journeys recorded on camera  and who knows what data Google are amassing .
