Any ex coal board sparks here, timer use

Mystery item for today.

Raking about in some of my shelves looking for a bracket and I came across this timer from the mining industry that dates from about 1980. 

It is what looks like two identical but individually adjusted timers which each operates its own relay to the contact outputs at each end, common supply voltage for control and a start button on top.

What is it out off?

Correct on both counts, bit birds nesty but old school and easy to follow on their wee PCB’s, but what a weird control Voltage 47 VAC.

I would hazard a guess this was from back in the era when stuff was designed, constructed, assembled and tested by people...

(possibly even by employees of companies that were located in the same country where the final product was used.)

not just the product of some automated computerised production line from some remote country many many miles away!!

Interesting and just a thought?? Don’t telephone lines operate at 47ish volts? Wouldn’t be linked?? Mind you back then probably not.
