they dont expect you to know all the answers to their questions, but they do expect you to know where to find the answers. So just brush up on using the regs rather than remembering specific bits of information.
The OP should note this down and stick it somewhere memorable as I don't think it's sunk in yet. ;)

ok kl

cheers i have been going thru every book i have. ONG REGS GN3

current carrying capacity page 131 ONG? twin and earth 2.5= 18.5? is that the right table lol just mking sure not used is ages as u said i need to brush up

if your unsure, use the book to look it up, they would rather you got it right using the book than guess and get it wrong.

i had a few questions on certs, what cert for adding a kitchen socket to notify to the lbc etc....

just want to get a good ideal of questions asked in the assessment. please dont tell me they ask u to calculate loads of things?

thanks

electro
On more than one occasion now I have been asked to do some RCD operating tests, (after making sure they are within a gnats whisker of my previous certificate results), they then asked...

How do you know the time you have read on your meter is acceptable?

they are looking for you to be aware of the different type of RCD & where you reference the max acceptable operating times...

OSG Chapter 11 page 91 to 93 is the sort of place they like you to look!

especially bullet points 11.2, 11.3 7 11.4;)

can u please remind me of how to calculate VD. is it Ib x lengh x some thing / 1000? lol not dont it in ages lol that is prob completly wrong
Hi there,

the first thing to say is do not panic..... ;)

AFAIK, as a domestic installer you are not expected to be a hot shot electrical engineer

as to the volt drop thing, it is irrelevant for you as section 7 gives the maximum lengths for all circuits with everything took into account. So apart from the safe zones thing and knowing what must be rcd protected that is the design and construction bit took care ofApplaud Smiley

that is kl know rcd time i know they are fine because i conpared them to the mas trip times in ong eg 300ms ect.

all circuits rcd protected lol esspecially tt systems , bathrooms and if cables in partition of 50mm

if that is not correct plz state

lol im scared i am not gun no sum question, how many do thy ask lol
With respect Electro, Please read my Signature.

Thank You.

I would say it was more important he reads the regs...... a lot.

Oh, and rebook his assessment.
