Just opening up in town, right next door to Electrifix, is Yess Electrical

http://www.yessselectrical.co.uk/index.html

Anyone used them? Are they any good?

I've looked at their website and to be frank, it's a lot of glitz about nothing, i.e no on line catalogue to see the full range of what they sell.

They weren't open when I was last there, but next time I'll call in to see if they have a catalogue or something.

Anyone tried them? are they any good?

Ones just appeared right next to electricfix here too. Had a look at their website and thought same as you. There's now cef, electric centre, wilts, neweys, yess elec, toolstation, Screwfix all on one small estate :)

The two people who started yess are the grandsons of the owner of cef who died last year.

Sidewinder is correct to some extent as they were the ones who ran uk operations but badly which resulted in them basically having it taken off them.

So they started up yess to get back at cef, they also kept the share in Doncaster cables so that's why cef do not stock it anymore as its basically lining their pockets.

We have also has a Yess open up next to a Screwfix.

Popped in to see what they were like. Asked for a few prices on things. There prices are on the expensive prices compared to other wholesalers i use.

I`ll leave em to it...

I think most wholesalers these days are about making as much as they can from each contractor until they get rumbled, then they make excuse and lower the price.

Example asked for a price on a Xpelair DX100T at wholesalers £35.00 + Vat, I then got one from Screwfix for £24.16 + Vat.

A few days later I was moaning about credits etc, while on the counter I mentioned about the fan and how their price was way over the top, how much elsewhere he asked, as if he did not already know, I told him and he replied yeah we can do it for that also, have you ordered it yet.

Too late I replied it's in and fitted, and I would not purchase anyway, if you cannot give me your best price first don't bother.

That day I also ordered 50 Halers H2 LED Downlights £22.00 + Vat each, the same merchant above wanted £26.40 + Vat, hence they will not be getting much custom from me at this rate.

I tend to agree with the above.

I now only use "wholesalers" for things I can't get from the likes of Electrifix, Toolstation, CPC, TLC etc

I like transparent pricing, not unknown pricing and bargaining.

We also regularly use a food wholesaler (for our B&B) and I know I can go there and buy stuff cheaper than Tesco Why can't electrical wholesalers be the same?

I can't see this lot lasting long if they don't break the mould, and just expect to be like others.

I think they have been about a while as a mailorder only company. But I have a problem with them straiight away and that is the telephone number. I use a mobile phone to conduct all my buisiness and I get unlimited calls. Now if i was to ring them to check on the availability or price of a product there 0845 number is going to cost me money. When will these companys stop using these numbers and use propper geographical numbers
