they could have, but depends on if they was following any guidelines... cabinet heights have guideline heights set by the manufacturer you are "supposed to follow" to account for different height people.like cooker hoods.. most people fit them at any height, but building regulations specify a height above the worktop for them.

I went back to job we had completed to fit some outside lights, the client asked if I thought the cooker hood was right.

Walked into the kitchen and she demonstrated the problem, the cooker hood was so low that when she had a saucepan on the hob she could not look into it, she was looking at the top of the hood, hahaha.

As far as I know they got the fitters back who said they always fit them at that height, well first one I have seen that low.

I too think it is 50% the sparks fault (as said before) we are meant to design our circuits ect for this I would not have put the switch there to start with

which electrician?........the one who wired the house 20years or so before the NEW kitchen fitters got there? :shakehead

the hoods come with instructions to say no lower and higher than a certain height, so just ask to see the instructions.

what was he meant to do, switch was put in wrong place

They should have informed the client and arranged for the switch to be re positioned. Now both switch and cabinets are compromised.

Nothing placed first is wrong.
