Maybe my reading isn't so good these days, but, I can't see where a consumer unit is mentioned.

The standard is the one relating to "consymer units" the name is a UK thing apparently.

The official IEC term is different.

Unusually in that standard there is a National "annexe" at the start.

Reg 530.3.4 which references Annexe ZA of BS EN 60439-3, will be changed to say, Annexe ZB of BS EN 61439-3.

The 61439 series has & is replacing the 60439 series.

Obviously references to 60439 elsewhere will also change.

I believe the intent of the proposed reg 421.1.200, is to ensure that consumer units used meet the requirements of the relevant product standard, by re-iterating the heat/flammability requirements.

Also, as the UK deviates from 61439-3, via Annexe ZB, it reinforces the safety of our National deviation from the International standard.

I love our annual inspections each year it’s the one thing I get most upset about when our inspector has to find something! Last year was a wrongly labelled socket outlet! I am pleased though the NICEIC maintains their task to protect the consumer and irrespective of who we are and how we could think we are our work is checked along with the knowledge of our staff. Always a fun day out and I get butterflies!
