Thing is if you are too cheap A you will not be able to do the job to safe and reasonable standard and B you will get a reputation for being cheap which is not a good thing. Most of my work is contract work for builders and the rest comes through recommendation and regular customers. The recommendation thing will take a long time to get but do a reasonable job at a sensible price and it will happen. Don't get a reputation for being cheap.
