guys i have a dewalt 12v driver drill thats about 5 yrs old now.

when a screw is fully home it now just stops dead instead of carrying on like it used to.

my question is it the batterry thats bolloxed or the drill.

just though you may all know as im skint and dont wish to buy a new battery if its the drill

thx

carl

Sounds like a battery issue, but to be sure pop into a good tool store and ask to try it with one of their 12v battery's.

ok thanks guys

another Q thou

are the no name replacement batteries any good or should i stick to the genuine dewalt ones

One of the diy chains was more or less giving the 12v dewalt batteries away can't remember which one it was though although I think it may have been homebase.

Sorry but to me this appears to be a torque problem rather than a battery.

Check your settings and make sure you have set a high enough torque for the job you are doing.

One easy way to check if a battery is goosed is to run it without any load, or resistance, or check it with your tester after a full load/charge.

Battery as said many times...

battery is coming to end of its life and just cant "power" the drill when its under load.

try to fully discharge the battery by placing it in the battery charger and leaving it un-plugged. then re-charge as normal..
