Nope, not me....I have a digital one which is impossible to read without a step ladder and a torch but I still aint havin no smart meters in me yard.

No smart water meter either, even though they were supposedly mandatory, there aint nowhere to put one as Thames water won't go in unboarded lofts!

Winner winner!

Me too - I thought it was alarming the way they are sending out letters giving dates for meter changes and not option to say NO!

Why does the Government want us all to have them?

I could go all tin hat and say to enslave the human race.

Or I could go officious and say to follow EU legislation on energy use.

Or

Not from what I have read. Quite the opposite actually.

They will charge more at peak times  so If your making the family breakfast in the morning or you want a shower when you get home from a hard days work down the mines they will charge you more for it.

Then there's the zukerburg-esque data sharing and the brain cancer stuff.

I can't trust these morons, can you?

Its a bit like the morons in the EU banning kettles over 2KW .............. to save power .............. clearly their understanding of physics is sadly lacking.

I too have always been suspicious of the urgency of the "Roll out "   as they call it .

They just couldn't be bothered with incorporating an isolator in them  either .

A Smart meter would save you money in the same way ....as the advert says.......   shopping at ASDA  saves you money ....   erm  no  , last week it cost me £80 to go to ASDA ...I don't see any "savings"  .

The savings with a smart meter are  with  the energy company  who  no longer pays a meter reader to call .

How many more radio frequencies do we need to be passing through us  every day .

I find it hard to believe that they result in energy savings. I had an OWL type monitor a while back, watched it out of curiosity for a while then consigned it to a bottom drawer. After all, I switch things on because I want them on; cost is a secondary issue and for individual items usually minimal. The only real saving I see in Smarts is for the supplier not having to employ meter readers. EDF has phoned twice in the last year to fix a date for my installation but I declined. I also suggested they asked again when the proposed equipment also cater for my solar generation.

Do meter readers still call?

Aint got one ain’t having one simples!
Yes, twice in the five years I've been at this address. Normally I just read and submit online. Last time I was out, and the wife let in a reader who took the generation meter reading instead of the supply meter. A few weeks later I got a letter saying the most recent readings didn't fit and asking for my own reading along with meter serial numbers, supply contract number, etc They sort of implied it was all my fault they were confused!
