A few months ago I changed my Internet providor from Orange to BT . The difference is phenominal .

But for the last couple of days , when I'm on this Forum , a box keeps appearing which says " An error has occurred in connecting to a remote computer ....blah...bhah...blah.."

While its on screen it freezes the Forum .

It is from Wanadoo (thats my first providor, bought out by Orange )

I can't find a way to get shut of it , all you can do is click "Cancel" then 30secs later its back again .

I have uninstalled everything I can see connected to Wanadoo/Orange.

Any ideas guys?

Thanks Awesome Oarsman , I'm using Firefox so I'll see how it goes on IE . I noticed that the Photbucket thing won't work on FF.

This bloody window is appearing like a mad thing now .

When I open IE it says " Internet Explorer provided by Wanadoo"

I'm trying to uninstall IE and then re-install it but can't see how to to do it .

Can you help with that . I go to "Uninstall programs " but IE is not listed so how do you get rid of it ?

Go to Tools - Add Ons and see if there is any Wanadoo stuff there?

You may get some page load errors with Chrome, but there is a suggestion if this happens from Chrome to change a setting which seems to work if you do it.

Deke,Can you not uninstall FF & then reinstall?

Is there like a disable add ons thing in FF, I'll see what I can find in F6 now
Ah didn't see your post Slidey , re-install FF you say OK I'll give that a go .

The dreaded box is not appearing in Chrome ( Bloody hell its fast !!!)

im pleased to say, i have just left orange yesterday and gone with plusnet whoch was activated this morning at 6am, change over went ok, no internet at all yesterday but setup with technical support today and all is back online, now have the static ip address that i originally wanted, :) and just need to spend the weekend setting up my dedicated micros dvr :innocent to allow remote view ;) anyway just wanted to say im back with you all now as i wasnt online all day yesterday which was soooo boring :slap

I'm back too , on the latest version of Foxy ,after uninstalling . So far no dreaded box . Watching this space .

So Badger , were you as pi$$ed off with Orange as I was , always having to dial in , often dropping out at high traffic periods, waste of space , now with BT ,seems fine to me , with a free phone anytime calls deal , been on it for some weeks now , never drops out , Orange /Wanadoo is carp in comparison.

And still no Dreaded Wanadoo Box .

Well 10 mins now and no Wanadoo Box , I think you cracked it guys . :Salute

My thanks to :-

Boat Boy

Slidegrinder

Barx, my thanks to you although I didn't understand a word ( Debrand my browser Eh ! )

So what was happening , any idea, the box was constantly trying to connect to me to Wanadoo but " couldn't find the remote server" meanwhile playing havoc with the Forum. Dumped Orange some weeks ago.

An hour now so I declare the Dreaded Wanadoo Box well and truly dead and buried .

Talking of Firefox, just updated to latest version and lets say it's not very backwards compatible with plugins. Firebug - DEAD noooooo. Using this alot lately.

Ahh ha, got it to work. /me happy again.

Oh dear its a calamity !!! Computer was blank when I switched it on . Can't load the BT Home pages, Firefox not working at all . Resetting to 2 days ago not working . Managed to get The Forum up with IE but its a bit slow .

And top of the page says " Microsoft internet Explorer Provided by Wanadoo " Will I never be rid of the damn people !!!!

Whats happened to Firefox ? Working fine last night .

Logging off for a bit to fiddle & faff about .

I give up ........ cannot install FF , its saved on my PC somewhere but won't open , Norton was stopping it but I've sorted that . Still no good. Can use IE but it seems slow in comparision with FF .

In fact using the Forum is like stirring treacle.
