Hi

Just a quick question. The bonding to the gas has to be within 600mm from the meter, does this apply to the water i.e. within 600mm from the internal stop cock if the incomming is not plastic?

Thanks.

or where is practical,BTW, its 600mm from the point of entry, 600mm from the meter is a gas reg
I've had this argument many times with a company i do work for, if the pipework isn't accessable then the bond goes to where it can be practically placed. They seem to think miracles can be carried out and get 10mm earth cables to places people can't reach!!

After all electricity flows very well through copper so I can't see the difference a couple metres will make in the event of a fault.

Yes, but before any soldered bends etc. The incoming pipe isnt lead is it?AndyGuinness
Thanks

The work was done previously by the homeowner who is a retired commercial sparkie and admitted he was not up to speed with the current regs.

He bonded to the pipework in the loo. I couldn't see where the incomming water was as the fitted kitchen was covering the stop cock.

The property is more than 50 years old so I guess the pipework would most probably be lead, I'll get a better look when they start to rip out the kitchen.

Do you know the reg no. in the BRB?. I can't find this in the OSG.

I could bond the pipework 10 meters from the point of access and still convince any assessor that I have complied with all regulations.

When you can grasp the concept of that sentance, come back with your thanks.
