What is differenece between main and supplementary bonding conductors? Is the main bonding conductor the one that connects to the first exposed metal surface, and the supplementary bonding conductor the one that is connected to the subsequent exposed metal surfaces?

All metalwork should be bonded to minimize the chance of a difference in potential eliminating risk of electric shock.

I understand that exposed parts are the ones that are in the vicinity of live conductors, for example the body of a washing machine. And the extraneous parts are the ones that are away from live conductors, for example water pipes.

1. Does it mean that the protective conductor connected to the body of washing machine is called earthing conductor and the protective conductor connected to water pipe is called bonding?

2. Can we call both earthing and bonding conductors as

The bonds to the gas and water are called main protective bonding conductors and your main earthing conductor connects from met to means of earthing. Hth

So there are three types of conductors. Main earthing conductor, main bonding conductor, and supplementary bonding conductor.

Are all of these three conductors called PE?

NO..

You have an...

Earthing conductor

Protective bonding conductor

Supplementary bonding conductor

You really need to get the correct names for these in your head as certain exams will require you to get them word perfect

If you look through the definitions section in the BRB it'll help you a lot

Table 54.8 gives the size of main bonding conductor with reference to neutral. However all the equipment (like water pipes, etc) that will have main bonding do not have any live (or neutral) conductor at all. So what neutral they are talking about in table 54.8?

incoming supply cables,

remember though,

apart from TNCS which the DNO may specify cable sizes for, the other supply types can be calculated for earthing arrangements.
