Mrs sprocketflup used the Alan carr ("ooooh arent i gay?" surely not the same Alan carr???) book and successfully stopped whereas it didnt work for me. Nor did hypnotherapy, some folk just dont have the type of brain that can be hypnotised and apparently Im one of them.
i tried patches and gum and neither worked for me. What did work tho was really analysing what it was that i was addicted to, and for me it was the feel or thrill of the smoke going down my neck, I wasnt too bothered about nicotene or not which was why the nicotene substitutes hadnt worked. IOnce id figured what it was I was able to find a substitute in sips of ice cold water and/or a Nicorette Inhaler which I used for a week or so and that was that.
One thing i will say tho that I truly beleive, YOU HAVE TO WANT TO STOP. If you only might like to stop, it wont happen, so may aswell not waste your time
