I'm O negative too, told I can't give blood as I received blood in the late 80's, at the time of the scare

I have given some 25 pinks of blood since the 1980's here and in NZ. As I received 11 pints of blood after a horrific bike smash in the 80's I wanted to give it back which I did twice over. Then they decided anyone who received blood between 1980 and 1996 is at risk of CJD and now they dont want it!

O negative is the universal donor and is used in emergency situations before blood typing can be carried out!
